my story

There was once a girl who thought she loved a boy. She waited for him for a year or more but he said no so many times. One day he changed, she never knew what changed, or why he decided to do it. But he asked her out. She was excited, but her gut was unsettled. Foolishly she ignored it. She had won the prize after the wait. They began to date, but all he wanted was to touch her, and kiss her and be with her. She was so scared. But she couldn’t show it; with her friends she was the tough one. So she hid inside herself. SHE WAS ONLY 14. They met afterschool and she tried to talk but his presence shut her up. She withdrew and did as he said. One day at a fair, he led her away to a stair well. Her heart was beating so fast, she didn’t know what to do. What could she do? He was so tall, so much stronger. He didn’t rape her. But he scared her. He kissed her, and kissed her, and pressed is body up to hers, and lay her down, and got on top of her. She felt so trapped; he held her wrists and straddled her. She couldn’t breathe, she couldn’t scream. SHE WAS STUCK. He was a good guy but she was bad. She was stupid and foolish and weak. SO GODDAMN WEAK. She’s a liar, she lies to her friends, tells them she said no to him. But she didn’t! She was a puppet and now she hides, hides and hides and hides. She can’t say, “I love you” because it reminds her of all the hollow words. When does she get to be weak and frail and express herself? When does she get to be free?
